Most backyards in Southern California have the space - they just lack the cover. Without solid shade overhead, the patio stays empty most of the day. That's the problem this Murrieta homeowner wanted to fix, and here's what we came up with.
We installed a solid Alumawood insulated patio cover running the full length of the back of the house. The black frame ties in cleanly against the white stucco exterior. It's a sharp contrast that looks intentional, not accidental. The decorative beam ends give it a finished, custom look without going over the top.
We wired in 2 ceiling fans and 6 recessed lights directly into the cover. That matters more than people realize. Fans keep the air moving when it's warm, and the lights extend how late you can actually use the space. You're not rushing inside once the sun goes down.
Alumawood is our go-to for insulated patio covers because it holds up - no rotting, no warping, no repainting every few years. The insulated panels also keep the underside noticeably cooler than a standard lattice or open structure. For a climate like Murrieta's, that's a real difference you feel the moment you walk outside.
The end result is a backyard that finally works the way it should. Plenty of covered space for furniture, room to entertain, and enough lighting to keep the night going. This is exactly the kind of build we enjoy doing - clean, functional, and built to last.
